Notes from Michael Hyatt at Catalyst West

Here's some notes I took from Michael Hyatt's presentation at the Catalyst West Leadership Conference last week.  Michael's talk was focused on helping leaders learn the significance of a platform and how to develop one.

Here's some notes I took and my thoughts added to them:

The most common reason writers don't get published is that they don't have a platform – Lots of people can write well.  Being a great writer won't get you published.  To get published it is very likely that you need some type of a platform.  A platform with a following of people who look to you.  Who look to you for advice and insight as a intelligent voice of a specific subject area.

With vision technology has meaning – Many of new technology tools found on the internet have very little meaning or significance if it's not for leaders who leverage them.  Leaders are needed to use these tools such as Twitter, Facebook and blogs to connect people and to help them do good.  Leaders are needed to leverage technology tools on the internet to make people's lives better.
